Archives for the month of: April, 2019

Ok, I’m really starting to feel the belly this week! I’m feeling out of breath a lot and feeling like my belly is putting so much pressure on my lungs and stomach. My boobs are also ridiculously heavy and my chest is still covered in acne. Hey though, at least it’s not on my face much. πŸ˜‰ The SPD pain is much more constant now and it’s harder to get comfortable at night and I still wake up on my back or find myself trying to roll onto my belly in the night. I don’t know what happened but I gained THREE pounds this week for a grand total of 19. Yikes! I did let myself go rather crazy with the treats on the day of my mil’s tea room grand opening but still, 3lbs???

I was also under a ton of stress this week as my grandpa was in the hospital and it sounded like the end might be near. He’s actually home now and doing somewhat better but it was a few very emotional days. Almost my entire family was traveling this week also which always is stressful knowing they’re on the road for extended periods of time. Most of them are home safely now, thank the Lord. Just my dad and sister are still traveling.

Ok, this post definitely got off on a negative foot. This week hasn’t been all bad though! We worked on plans for the addition and we are hoping to get that underway in the next couple weeks. Getting quotes on the basement now… I’d like most of it done before August. And since we are not getting any younger and it looks like we will be here for the foreseeable future, I decided to finally buy and plant some flowering trees. I’ve literally said for the last decade that I’d like to have some flowering trees someday. The other day I was like, it’s now or never! So, the boys and I bought 2 varieties of apple trees and a profusion crabapple tree. The crabapple tree is quite large and I had a rather humorous experience getting it into the van. The boys thought it was hilarious that the tree was about as long as the van and the branches were just everywhere. πŸ˜‚ We also picked up sand for their sandbox. They talked me into the colored blue sand. It costs about triple what natural sand costs but hey, you’re only a kid once!

Shye’s kicks are another level now. He’s got some strength in those leggies! I’ve even felt a few of those breath-catching cervix jabs. Always a weird feeling! I think I’ve felt hiccups a couple times. Mostly I feel him kick on the left side below my belly button but sometimes it feels like he’s everywhere all at once. I can sometimes feel his body shape when I put my hand on my belly. I feel some round shape at the upper right of my belly which I’m assuming it’s his head since the kicks are down low. Hopefully he gets into a head down position soon. I know he’s got plenty of time but after having one breech baby who never turned, I’m always a little nervous. 😬

I don’t think I have any other important news to share right now. My sister who lives a couple states away is coming by to see us for a few hours. She had some stuff to take care of here but unfortunately she’s only on a quick visit. We will try to make the most of it!

Dear God, thank You for a blessed week with lots of answered prayers. Please help us and guide our plans for the future and for building on or whatever is Your will for our family. Please watch over Shye and help him to be well and healthy. In Jesus’ name, amen.

I don’t have any belly pics this week, so I’ll leave you with these baby bluebird growth pics I’ve been sending my bird loving sister every day or 2. Sorry they are in the reverse order. I’d change them around but I’d rather go get a shower. πŸ˜‚

Another week has gone by in the blink of an eye! It seems like the second trimester just flies every time.

This week baby feels so much bigger in there. I can feel kicks above my belly button the last couple days. His kicks are oftentimes super strong now and definitely visible from the outside. I still haven’t gotten the boys to feel him yet. When I’m busy a lot all day I don’t feel much movement but usually when I sit down or lay down for bed he starts bouncing all over the place. I get the feeling he may be a tad hyper. πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚ Zane still hasn’t caught on to the change in my belly size. I keep pointing to my belly but he ignores me and just hugs me. I’m a big cushy pillow to him. πŸ˜‚

I’m definitely getting out of breath and lightheaded easier now and can’t really walk and talk at the same time without getting winded. The SPD pain is about the same or maybe a tad better actually. I think because he’s moving up in my belly a bit more now. Whenever I stand up from sitting or laying, I have a few wobbly steps before my pelvis starts to feel more stable. Especially in the middle of the night when I get up to pee, I have to really be careful walking to the bathroom because I feel like I’m about to fall.

I’ve gained 16lbs now. I have days where I get a good bit of swelling in my feet, ankles and hands. I think the real trick is that I just need to drink more water! That and I also need to sit down and prop my feet up for a few minutes every couple hours.

I haven’t been getting much exercise in at all lately but I have been working outside in the flower beds, so lots of squatting and walking around. I got my bushes pruned and most everything weeded. We bought a couple trees and my parents also gave me a Japanese red maple. πŸ™‚ We also planted the blueberry bush my sister S gave me last year. I’m really enjoying getting the yard looking nice before it gets overly hot out. DH and I both love doing landscaping and our yard was a completely blank canvas when we moved here 7 years ago. Not one single bush or flower bed anywhere! It’s been fun getting it exactly how we want it. And to that point, the more we think and pray about it, the more we are pretty sure we are going to just build on here instead of moving. Not only have multiple places we have looked at/put in offers on not ended up working out, but also we do like where we are quite a lot. So we are looking for land to use for recreational use and looking at building on a few bedrooms, office (DH is working from home a lot now) and a basement living room with play area. Lots of plans but no idea when we will actually make a start on anything. Apparently we are procrastinators. πŸ˜‚ The need for more space is getting pretty real now though and I definitely want the addition done by the time the baby is 6 months so that I have a bedroom for him that he doesn’t have to share with a noisy older brother.

I don’t think I really have any other baby related news…. Oh… the boys are calling the baby by his name now – Shye. I wasn’t 100% that I was going with that name, but they loved it and switched from calling him “the baby” to calling him Shye before DH and I had fully decided. It feels right when they say it, so I think we will roll with it. πŸ˜‰

Dear God, thank You for a beautiful day and awesome weather to enjoy with my babies. Please watch over and protect each of them. Thank You for them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

22 weeks 2 days

Trying to get a cute belly pic but getting photo bombed by the kids… πŸ˜‚

Full disclosure: I find these types of posts incredibly dull. Why should you care what I ate? Lol. But anyway, I thought I’d do one because I’ve been gaining weight so stinking fast lately and I think I just need to put it on paper what I’m eating and see if it’s me and if I need to make changes or if I’m really as powerless over my weight as I feel. So, here goes…

Breakfast: coffee with creamer, collagen powder and MTC oil

Late morning breakfast/lunch: spring mix salad with toppings (shredded chicken, avocado, carrots, peppers, feta, a little ranch dressing…)
Snack: 2/3 peanut butter and honey sandwich on whole wheat (shared it with Zane, hence the “2/3” πŸ˜‚)
Snack: 1 slice of cheese pizza (Let’s be honest here, I didn’t need this snack. It just sounded really good.)
Supper: another salad just like earlier but also with some assorted crunchy toppings. Also, hummus.
After supper treat: fruit juice popsicle
Snack: granola bar
Snack: apple with peanut butter

It’s almost bedtime and I’m so hungry again! πŸ˜– I think I’m going to have some carrots and hummus before bed because I know if I don’t have a bedtime snack I will wake up in the night nauseated. This is a pretty normal day for me lately except I would usually have something else for either lunch or supper. Chili or chili spaghetti, beans with cornbread and greens, chicken enchiladas, bean burritos, chicken fajitas…. Those are some things we’ve have recently.

I’ve been trying to have a salad for at least 1 meal a day several days a week. I’ve cut a lot of unhealthy carbs lately. I really want to gain a healthy amount of weight! In all my pregnancies I gain the most weight in the 3rd trimester, so I know from experience that I need to pace my gain. It’s hard though cause I want to eat all the things!! πŸ˜‚ I need accountability!

My sister got married on Sunday 4/7 and I couldn’t be happier. Both for her happiness in marrying the man of her dreams, and especially because the wedding stress is finally over. πŸ˜‚ Shew! That was a long day. Over 12 straight hours of going nonstop (I didn’t actually have any responsibilities outside of delivering 202 cupcakes safely to the venue, but the KIDS! 🀣) and then finally getting home to rest. I was having frequent Braxton Hicks contractions by then, so I sat down to rest with my poofy ankles propped up. My other sister M was over for a couple hours, so she brought me water and rubbed my feet for awhile and the contractions went away so I could go to bed. The boys were so incredibly cute in their matching suits but somehow I managed to forget my camera and I don’t have one single wedding picture of my own! Thankfully the photographer was in overdrive all day, so I know we will have lots of great pics to look back on in a few weeks.

We had the joy of getting to visit with lots of out of state family members due to them coming in for the wedding. My cousin stayed with us a few days with his sweet dog. It was so nice to catch up with everyone. πŸ™‚
The SPD pain has flared up and down with some days being mild and others being much worse to the point that I can’t even sleep well some nights. Unfortunately I started having skin irritation from the kinsio tape I bought recently. The brand I was originally using was out of stock it I’m hoping I’ll find a brand with no irritation because that stuff is seriously the best!

The boys and I have been getting outside almost every day this last week as the weather has been gorgeous! Tru has been looking for bees as he decided that he likes bees again. He had stepped on a bee last year and was scared for awhile but he’s been fascinated lately by the way they collect nectar and make honey. Actually, anything scientific or biological is enthralling to Tru lately. He has been getting us to read him a chapter a day of a Human Anatomy book. He asked me the other day “Mommy, how do people write books that are soooo istering?? (Interesting)” πŸ˜‚ He seriously needs to be a dr someday. Haha.

Anyway, the baby is getting increasingly stronger with his movements. A few days ago I saw my whole belly shake when he was bouncing around! I usually feel him having a dance party at night when I lay on my left side. I have also noticed that he doesn’t kick in the morning until after I get out of bed and move around. I think he’s still asleep and when I get up and walk around, it wakes him up. Which I mean, how freaking cute is that?!?!! 😍❀️ I love him so much! Also, DH finally got to feel him moving yesterday. πŸ™‚

I haven’t weighed myself in a few days but last time I checked I was up 13lbs. No cravings currently. Taco Bell sounds disgusting (usually I like it) but not really any strong aversions lately. Sometimes I have swelling in my calves and feet when I’m standing a lot. Nothing too serious. πŸ˜‰

Dear God, thank You for a great week of getting to visit with family and enjoy our time together. Thank You also for a great week of pregnancy. Please keep everything going smoothly and healthy. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Sorry for the awkward pic lol! Its terribly windy today (there was even a tornado a few towns away) and the wind had got my hair in a mess.

Oh my goodness, this week!!! Life has been entirely too busy this week. Last Friday (3/29) I took Zane for his well check up, except he wasn’t well. At 5am that morning he’d started a fever. The dr said we could test for influenza but it really wouldn’t make a difference in how we treated Zane’s sickness. Because of the likelihood of tamiflu causing gastro symptoms and not wanting to do the flu test, we just treated with Tylenol, Motrin and tons of snuggles all day. Levi was on the tail end of a mild cold, so I think that’s all Zane had since his only different symptom was a fever. Naturally I came down with a sore throat as well just to fit in. πŸ™„πŸ˜

Because of Zane being sick, it was hard to evaluate his general health but his 18 month checkup is in May anyway. We did go ahead and check his iron that day since it had been 9 a few months ago. It came back at 12 this time and the dr said he thought the 9 reading was a mistake. Zane is tentatively going to be getting a sleep study done to see if apnea might be the underlying cause for his extreme need to sleep. (I think I wrote about this in his last update.) I want to discuss it more with his dr next month. For now I’m waking him after 12 hours.

Otherwise, he is still a little guy. Only 21.5lbs in the 20th percentile and his head is 46.5cm in 11th. He is tall though. I forget the inches but he’s 75th for height! He is 17 months on the 11th and still no words. 😦 He’s said a few and then stopped. The dr said we can reevaluate that next month and if he’s still not talking we can see about next steps.

Ok…. So last weekend my brother and his wife of like, 5 minutes (actually, 4 weeks) announced that she is pregnant. We had our suspicions but she took a test last week and confirmed it. They’re super thrilled and I’m super… concerned… I’m just gonna leave it at that. πŸ˜‚

Then this weekend my sister S is getting married. I’ve spent the entire day – ENTIRE DAY – cleaning the house to get ready for the weekend and all the rush that takes place during these kinds of events. And let’s be honest here, it’s not even like it’s going to still be clean by tomorrow. Or even by bedtime tonight. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜’ In the midst of the cleaning I baked 208 cupcakes that I need to decorate tomorrow. That sounds like it would take all day to bake that many cupcakes but actually it took about 4 hours. While they were in the oven I made supper and cleaned the bathroom and did other things here and there, so it’s not like I was tied to the oven all that time. Hopefully they are beautiful in the end. πŸŽ‚

Even with all this going on, I noticed the baby is kicking much harder this week. Whenever I’m in the car I notice him kicking at stops. Either he hates the car or loves it. πŸ˜‚ He seems to have found my bladder and enjoys jumping on it like a trampoline. I love when I lay down at night and he starts jumping all around. I still haven’t gotten DH or the boys to hold still long enough to definitely feel him move but hopefully soon! (These men are all so impatient.) 🀣

I booked a trip to Colorado next month and then asked my dr if that was ok. She had the nurse call back and say that I could go and everything should be ok BUT, it would take my body some time to adjust to the altitude and I’d have to rest and drink a lot of water, blah blah blah. That’s not my kind of trip though. If I wasn’t pregnant, sure. No big deal. But I don’t want to risk feeling sick on vacation while I’m 6 months pregnant, so I cancelled it and I’m looking at other options.

In other news, I’m up 11-13lbs, depending on the day. Belly has definitely popped a lot more this week! Not craving anything too much right now and no strong aversions. Still feeling really good most of the time! πŸ™‚

This is actually from 19+3 but I wanted to share it. Levi jumped in the shot while DH was taking my belly pic and I thought it turned out cute. πŸ™‚

Dear God, thank You for another great week of pregnancy and for helping me get the stuff done that I need to do. Please keep all of my children safe and healthy and I pray that we will have a good spring. In Jesus’ name, amen.
