Or maybe not your kids cause chances are your kids aren’t as weird as mine. But anyway, Rocky is 0% interested in store bought dog biscuits (picky Pete) and that’s kind of no fun for me because I like giving him treats. So I decided to be all creative and invent some he would actually enjoy. It was a great success! Rocky loves them! Since they are made with all people-safe food ingredients, I agreed to let the boys try them. Which was a mistake. They also loved them and were sneaking dog treats to eat. Tru liked them so much, he asked if we could eat them “At the morning” for breakfast. ….😯 (We didn’t)
So, in case anyone is interested, here’s the recipe I invented.
1cup all purpose flour
2 small bananas, mashed
1/3 cup peanut butter
1 egg
I threw it all in the bowl together and mixed it up. On a heavily floured surface, I kneeded in more flour. The boys had fun flattening it out and cutting shapes. I baked them at 350° (but 325 may have been better) until they were done. (can’t be more specific… It was maybe 15 minutes?)
I’ve made dog treats with canned pumpkin before too, and my dogs loved them (but they will eat anything).

This sounds like a great kid project! My kids love to help in the kitchen but I’ve only let them do a tiny amount of what they’re rally capable because I worry about the whole meal landing on the floor. A dog wouldn’t care about that though! I wonder if my in-laws’ dog would like these…

Exactly! I feel bad that I don’t let the boys help me cook more too but I also worry about food getting dirty or the kids getting burnt somehow. This was like playing with playdough but with an edible end result. 🙂 (At least for the dog lol)

Burns happen even when they aren’t helping. I just moved my toaster oven to a table height counter and within a minute of first use there, M touched it and burned his finger!

Aw, poor M. I remember grabbing the hot toaster with both hands and pulling it towards the edge of the counter when I was a kid. It didn’t end well….

Oh goodness! That doesn’t sound like it would end well at all! Thankfully M just had a minor burn and a learning lesson. I don’t know why but he seems to get burned much more than V does. A boy thing?
