Archives for the month of: April, 2016

I realize I have been a bit lacking with the updates recently. I thought I would do a bullet post to get caught up a bit. Not that I can ever remember half of what I wanted to write about. Some is just random jibber-jabber and some is random updates.

•The network my phone runs on has been messed up. If you have tried contacting me via text and I didn’t reply, it’s because I didn’t receive your message. I’m not even sure if my texts are going through to some people. DH and I have suffered even further communication failure due to this issue. At least he has an excuse this time. 😉

•I have fallen head-long back into the crazy world of OPKing. Actually, I’ve only taken 1 so far this month (today) and it was – . But any day now! If I start to get too crazy, I promise I will quit. 😉 I’ve lost track of my CD but I know I’m near mid-month. Which leads me to my next point…

•I have an appointment with a hematologist next week. I called her office and asked if she would be willing to work with me in light of the recent loss. She called me herself and we had a nice chat on the phone. I really liked her a lot. She wants me to come in and we can discuss things further. She is actually not familiar with MTHFR, but she said she thought we could work something out for me to be on Lovenox full time at a low dose. She would monitor me from time to time if needed to be sure my blood isn’t too thin.

•I have been babysitting for my cousin this week. Her baby is around 6 months. Having 3 kids has been a lot of work, but doable. Tru and Levi both love him and want to *take care* of him all day. Levi smothers him in kisses nonstop and pokes his finger at him while making kissing sounds. Tru woke up Monday to find baby N here and was disturbed at first as Levi was still asleep. He seemed to be confused as he was sure that this was NOT the right baby. When I went to get Levi out of bed, Tru exclaimed in relief over and over “THERE’S the baby!” Tru is so protective of his Levi. He is always watching out for him and asking him things.

•Levi held up a sock the other day and said “Nim”. Tru then showed me the sock and told me “It’s a nim.” Crazy boys! Isn’t Tru supposed to be teaching Levi, not the other way around?

•Levi has learned to climb and is climbing on everything! A couple days ago I caught him climbing on a kitchen chair. I got him down and put the chair away. I turned to wipe off the counter and when I looked behind me again, he was sitting on the table! Panic. Attack. !!! Today he managed to bite his tongue somehow badly enough that it bled everywhere. Poor baby. 😦

•And his newest game is to take the vent off on of the heating ducts and throw everything down there. We are already short at least 1 sippy cup that has been lost down there forever. One evening I started freaking out because it seemed like stuff was getting sucked into another dimension around here. Days later DH found the motherload in the heat duct. My hairbrush was also *lost* at some point. I really need to buy a grate that screws into the floor….. He’s so sneaky about it too.

•I’ve planted a ton of flowers in my hanging baskets and pots on the porch during the last couple weeks. I’ve also added 2 more flower beds with lots of perennials. Lilies, rhododendrons, phlox, and a host of other plants. I am loving getting more landscaping done! I have also bought strawberry and blueberry plants and am starting a berry variety patch. I just want to buy a few trees for the backyard and grab a couple vegetable plants and I’ll call it done. Yeah right! 😉 I’m never done. As long as there are clearance plants that need my TLC, I’ll keep expanding my gardens.

•I’ve had a lump in my upper to mid right abdomen for the last several months. Maybe since Jan or so. I finally went to the NP to have her feel it. She sent me for an ultrasound last week. It was determined that nothing was there that didn’t belong but my gallbladder is inflamed. Seems strange to me that my gallbladder alone is causing such a big lump but the ultrasound showed nothing to worry about. I also had no visible gallstones so there’s no obvious reason for inflammation. I’m considering doing a gallbladder cleanse. I am still weighing the pros and cons. Pros, it might reduce the swelling and alleviate the slight tenderness. Cons, if a gallbladder cleanse goes wrong, it can lead to having to get the gallbladder removed. That would be terrible! Anyone have personal experience with doing a cleanse? ….I think I said gallbladder enough!

That should about do it for updates and so on. 🙂

Levi is seriously eating a "boo" out of the top of my shirt. Lol. I felt kind of like a mother cat getting climbed on by kittens.

Can you believe my little squoosh nugget is walking, talking and popping an attitude already? Because I feel like he is way too young for this! Levi has been walking, as in taking steps, since a few maybe four weeks before his birthday. Since he turned 1, he can now walk much further distances but he has pretty poor balance (always has) and since he falls a lot, he chooses to crawl part-time for now. Especially if he wants to get somewhere fast. He crawls faster than any baby I have ever seen and looks particularly hilarious with his butt bouncing from side to side so fast.

Speaking of his butt, it’s doing quite well on the rash front lately. It will bleed a little from time to time but the rashy areas are very small and nothing like a few weeks ago! So thankful for that.

Levi is enjoying eating anything and everything although he isn’t fond of milk in a cup. I don’t have a very good supply anymore which is to be expected at his age. So hopefully he will start drinking cow’s milk better. I still have most of a deep-freezer of breastmilk to use up though so he has a bit before we have to worry about that. I may mix the breastmilk 50/50 with cow milk. Levi started nursing “normally” again, like 5-6 times a day but if we are around people he usually won’t nurse long or as often. I am still just letting nature take its course with weaning but I won’t lie, I was happy he decided to start nursing more again. I feel it may just be a short spell though. Like a last hurrah.

We are holding strong with just 1 nap most days, Levi has never been much of a napper like Tru was. Generally he needs a nap between 12:30-1:30pm. He will sleep an hour to 2. Last week he slept for 3.5 hours at a nap and I snuck into his room to check on him like 3 times. No lie. It was freaky. I do try to get him to take an evening nap but we have very mixed results. He needs it but he is pretty adamant when he doesn’t want to sleep. Although now, instead of screaming in his bed, he usually just sits there and plays and fusses alternately. He sleeps through the night fine but is an earlier riser than Tru ever was. He also likes to go to bed AFTER Tru and I think it’s because I let him stay up and play unhindered for a bit most nights after I put Tru to bed. Then he nurses and lays down for the night. I thought how nice it would be to co-sleep sometimes so I put him in my bed when he woke once recently and he was not able to fall asleep. Once I put him back in his own bed, he konked right out. Both of my kids are like that….

The talking! So, Levi says a few words now, his favorite of which is “NO”. And he gets quite an attitude about it which is funny now but….. I will tell him something and he will say “NO!” and turn his head away in a huff and sometimes even close his eyes like he is shutting me out. He fake cries quietly and tries SOOOO hard to make it look real. I can’t help but laugh, DH and I both. It’s NOT funny but it IS! It’s hilarious. His sighs of frustration crack me up as well. I just love him! He’s totally a little man with a personality. He also says “Buh” and “Boo” while patting my chest and tugging at my shirt, which is “boob”, obviously. He says “dada” but he hardly ever says “mama” anymore. He likes to say “ba”, “ha” etc as a little accentuation for things. They don’t mean anything in particular yet but he knows what he’s talking about. Levi is pretty quiet in general though and has never been one to babble. He doesn’t seem to have his own language like Tru did outside of a few select sounds that he repeats all the time. He never sits there and babbles to himself although he does make humming/sing-song noises. Honestly, I’m not worried about his lack of personal vocabulary at this point, simply because he has always been quiet and I think that is just his nature.

Levi started giving kisses last week! I saw him giving DH kisses and I was like “NO! You kiss mommy, nugget!” Haha! DH thought I was crazy but he totally was proud of the fact that Levi kissed him first. I got my kisses a few minutes later and Levi makes the cutest smooch sound!

Levi was biting people really bad, though not to be mean, but is getting better now. He actually bit his cousins fingers and drew blood. It was sad because Levi really didn’t know it would hurt A and A was mortified.

There are so many ways that I could write about how he is acting so grown up now. For the longest time, Levi seemed a little “behind” (I hate to say it that way… It wasn’t like a problem or anything) but now I think he has totally grown into his age. Actually, I think he knew what was going on all along, he’s just always been a quite baby an likes to sit and observe. Aside from the screaming…. He has ear piercing screams which he lets fly for any reason at all. He likes to tattle on Tru with his screams, even when Tru isn’t doing anything wrong. Levi is a bit of a booger but a mighty cute one if I do say so. And I’m on to his little game so I make sure to investigate before I reprimand Tru.

Dear God, thank You for all the wonderful new things Levi is doing and for how much he has grown. I am so happy to watch him learning and growing all the time. Thank You for him. Please watch over and protect Levi all the days of his life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What is new with Truett this month…? Well, he cut 3 more molars and a fourth is on it’s way, he gets himself on and off the toilet on his own now, he has gotten more and more vocal all the time and he definitely looks taller lately! He looks like a 3 year old more than a 2.5 year old. I have noticed that Tru is very good at playing pretend now. He will make stuffed animals talk to each other and his play is so much more imaginative just in the last few weeks.

The stuff Tru has been saying really shows that he hears EVERYTHING we say and is a little parrot of sorts. The other day he was taking a shower with me (he begs to take showers with us) and I looked down and laughed at his tiny little naked butt. I said “Tru, you have a cute butt.” A few minutes later I was rinsing my hair and Tru exclaimed “Hey! You have a cute butt, mom!” Over the course of the last few days he has also told me that my arms and hands are cute as well… He’s always good for a laugh. Also, when I get him out of the bath, he likes to play this game where he will ask for a “cow” and I correct him and say “towel!”. He laughs and says “No! COWWWW!” over and over. Sometimes we switch it up and I tell him it’s a cow and he corrects me. He has started learning about how words can sound similar and he thinks that is just so nifty. 😉

I wanted to grab a few outfits for myself the other day and I took the boys with me. (Which was crazy but that’s another story…) While I tried everything on in the fitting room, Tru exclaimed to me that each outfit was “Pretty, Mom!” I told him his wife is going to LOOOOOVE shopping with him someday!! I find it particularly irritating when I try clothes on and ask DH his opinion and he is all…. *shrug* “Sure.” I’m taking Tru from now on!;)

We were driving home late the other night and I knew he was getting tired. I told him that we could get a bottle, brush his teeth, get pajamas and go to bed when we got home. He kept reminding DH and I that we would do all those things by repeating it to us the whole way home. And yes, he still drinks 1 bottle a day. I no longer worry about it. It’s 1 bottle. I really don’t care. I thinks it’s more of a security thing for him than anything else and I’m fine with that if it makes him feel cared for. He will give it up eventually. He won’t be 18 and taking a bottle before bed…. I think.

I love how he always replies with “Mm hmm!” or “Zes!” (yes). I will tell him something and he repeats it back “Zes! My go see baby chickies.” (My brother got a batch of baby chicks and Tru is in love!) Tru refers to himself as “My” a lot. He was very confused about who “you” referred to until recently (still is I think – after I wrote this he pointed to a picture and said “See! It’s you!” But it was him when he was 1). He seemed to think that “you” was another person entirely which was obvious when he would point to photos and say “That’s you!” when it clearly wasn’t. I think the confusion stemmed from me showing him his baby pictures which he was sure were Levi. I kept telling Tru “No, that’s you!” Thus “you” became a mysterious third baby.

The repetition is interesting at times as Tru repeats EVERYTHING I tell him. But he’s learning new words and new ways of structuring sentences so it’s actually a good thing. Plus, I know he is paying attention. 😉 We are still working on his Bible verses which he loves to do. 🙂

As far as him getting himself on and off the toilet, I was totally surprised that he learned to do that so quickly! One day I was on the phone and he told me he had to pee. I told him to go in the bathroom and I followed after him. I came to the door and he was already on the toilet! He does have to take his pants completely off to do that but it’s not a problem as he is able to put them back on himself. Once he learned to take himself, potty time became less annoying to him as he never has to wait while I finish up stuff with Levi and so on. He doesn’t even have to tell me although he usually does announce it. If it’s poop, he hollers from the bathroom “My yucky, mom! It’s gross! Super gross!” and I go wipe him and help him flush. 😉 In public, I let him wear a pull-up (which he still calls them undies) and we don’t worry about going to the toilet. If we make it to the bathroom, fine and if not, neither of us is upset about it. He also learned to go standing and likes to pee out in the grass. Whatever keeps him dry is fine by me!

Probably one of my favorite things right now is that Tru says all the time “My nuggle mommy.” (Or daddy) And will climb up in our laps and sometimes he will even lay there next to us for more than 2 seconds. Levi is crazy jealous right now and will cry and cry until I am holding them both together, which is also fun. Sometimes when Levi is taking a nap, Tru and I will just chill on the couch watching TV and eating popcorn. As much as Tru enjoys it, he is always concerned with “Where baby go?”. He is the most caring and protective 2.5 year old brother I have ever seen. He is always watching out for baby. Like the other day, I forgot to buckle Levi in his carseat as I was having to fix Tru’s seat and Tru reminded me about putting Levi’s buckles on. Made me feel kind of like an awful mom but also thankful that Tru is such a watchful big brother.

The last week has been beautiful weather so we have been spending quite a bit of time outside. The boys love to play in their sandbox we bought last year and Tru asks several times a day to play in it. He also loves playing with the dog (who has been doing a lot better with Tru now that Tru is getting older) and feeds him and helps me give him water. Tru will lay right on the ground to watch the dog eat which is cute and hilarious. I tried to get a picture the other day but by the time I grabbed the camera, Tru had moved. We didn’t get to walk last week at all as it was rainy and I didn’t have a good day to go, but we went once this week with DH. I’m thrilled that my boys love to be outdoors and I want to feed that in them so hopefully they will still enjoy it when they are older. Today we were working out in the flower beds and I found a small toad. I put it in a bucket for Tru and he was absolutely beside himself with joy playing with it. He is still talking about the “frog”.

Dear God, thank You for the good growth and maturity that Tru is showing. I am so happy to watch him learning and growing all the time. Please protect him and watch over him all the days of his life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

That’s what my dishwasher is doing. Ok, not really. I haven’t found the fountain of youth or anything. But my new dishwasher comes pretty close! DH and I haven’t had a dishwasher in 7ish years since we had our first apartment. Since then, we have been living like animals or something, washing our dishes with our actual hands. It’s bizarre, really.

All joking aside, a week and a half ago we decided to spring for a dishwasher and found a great one on sale! It was a bit more than I was wanting to pay but I was adamant that I wanted a dishwasher, not a dishrinser. The saleslady assured me that the one I wanted was going to be a good one. Better than the 2 cheaper ones which she said were also very nice. I was an easy sale. I’d say we looked for a total of 10 minutes and once she came to help us, it was no more than 3 minutes before we were sold. 😛

Anyway, I love it. My counters and sink stay clear allllll the time. Those dishes I didn’t have time to do before because the kids were needing me all day, are now tucked out of sight, waiting to be washed. All I have to do is pop in some soap once a day or so and unload a couple hours later or in the morning. Easy as that. On to other cleaning projects and spending more time with my babies. And it actually does wash very well. No rinsing required past the removal of chunks of food. That’s it.

Tell me again, why did we wait so long?
