This question has been brewing in my head for a few days. Maybe someone out there knows the answer? I’ve heard and read for YEARS that once ovulated, the egg only survives for like 6 hours (unlike sperm that survives for around 3 days in the right environment) and then it fizzles out if it doesn’t get fertilized in that time. This is true right? I’m not the only one who’s heard that?

So, all the time, I read about people having rescue ICSI done on their eggs that don’t fertilize. It’s 24 hours later when rescue ICSI is performed. So the eggs are still surviving 24 hours later.

Help me out here. It’s not like it matters or anything, but which is it???
